Happy Mothers Day and Finished Last Week ...

I hope everyone had a Happy Mothers Day yesterday where ever you are and who ever you were with.

I had a lovely quiet day, sitting on the bed (also known as my "workbench") making bears for Brisbanes Winter Wonderland. I had a whole rainbow of bears in progress including blue, pink, red, lemon, lavender, coffee and a brown an white panda.

I saw my Mum on Saturday when my family came for a visit.

I was having awful trouble finding the "right" present while shopping for Mothers Day and then I remembered that Mum said she quite liked an Owl pattern at a Bear show.

Unluckily for me, I had waited until Wednesday to go shopping and Mum, Dad and Grandmama were visiting on Saturday and I didn't have an Owl pattern. So I spent Thursday designing and sewing up the owl and then Friday sewing and stuffing. After a minor setback with the eyes I had chosen breaking off the wire, it all went quite well and I had a great time making a Fimo beak. The first one looked like a budgie beak, so we consulted Google images and found some pictures (thank goodness). Then by Saturday morning I just had to stuff him into the bag :)

Anyway here he is -

He is made in a lovely Tissavel Chinchilla Fur that I really enjoyed using  :)

Also finished last week, were 2 pink bears so with no long story ;) Here they are

Fingers crossed, there will be a few more completions this week so I can get moving on the Teddies Friends Show Animals :)

Busy, Busy, Busy.....

Hi again,

I hope everyone had a great Easter. I had some lovely chocolate and have spent the past two weeks wishing I had some left :)  Son #3 still has his largest Cadbury egg and I swear it is calling to me every time I am awake walk into the kitchen. I've told him if he leaves it there much longer I will eat it find a new home for it *grins*

On the Bear front I have been super busy. I have dyed some mohair in pinks/yellows/blues/reds and I have been making it up into all sorts of bear designs for the Winter Wonderland Bear show (Brisbane on the 16 and 17th June) So I thought I would share some progress photos. These were actually taken a while ago so the bears are much further forward than the photos show....

I've also been designing the animals for the Teddys Friends  Show  (see link on the sidebar) and I am just about to start cutting out and sewing them up. I also dyed some mohair for these and I have a gorgeous blue/purple colour (wisteria??)  I can't wait to see how they turn out and it really burns I can't tell anyone what they will be !!!

Hopefully I'll be back with some finished photos by the end of the week :)

Tea Party, Pincushion, Ferret and Friends....

Hi, yes ... it's been a little while :)
This is a "bits and pieces" post - a little info about a few different things

Tea Party

The Teddy Bears Tea Party wrapped up. Final stats included over 5000  individual visitors  and over 300 bears finding new homes.  I had a great time  and I'd like to thank  everyone that came for a look at the bears  and especially the lovely people tht chose to take one home :)

I have a couple of bears still waiting for  their new home  - Emma is on Bear Pile already and Lipton will be joining her as soon as I have five spare minutes.

Pincushion

About ten days ago, I went to a pincushion class at Craft Haven. We sewed a mushroom and then made little faces/bums to go inside gumnuts and fur and then hot glue gunned everything all together. We all had a ball and here is my pin cushion - the stem has garnet inside to sharpen your needles and the top is a pincushion.

Ferret

We have a cute little ferret called Nog. As Crash (our big dog with a bad leg) couldn't go outside, we had to confine Nog to running in the one room. As Crash isn't with us anymore, we put the other dogs outside and let Nog have the run of the whole house. Both Nog and Angus enjoyed it !!!

 and Friends....

Last but not least, I have been accepted into the Friends of Teddy On Line Show to be held between the 13th and 15th of July. This show will feature the Teddy Bears "Friends " ie:  dogs, cats, rabbits, dragons and lions :) and also some bears as well.

Please click on the link on the sidebar to visit the website for more info :)
Back again soon ....... no really !!

Tea party .....

Hi again..... look 3 posts in a couple of days :)

The Teddy Bears tea Party at www.teddiesworldwide.com  has been going really well with lots of bears from lots of artists finding new homes. It still has another 15 or so hours to run and there are still some cute ones left :)
I still have a few available  too, including Peppermint

Orange Pekoe

and Matilda

Don't forget that there is a booklet of everybodies  favourite Tea Time Treats to download after the show has ended.

I put my receipe for Creamy Peppermints in, which I remember Mum making. Whenever I have taken them anywhere, there are never any left to bring home :)

Teddies Worldwide Tea Party...

Well, for us here in Australia there is only one more sleep until the Teddies World wide Tea Party opens and all the bears are able to be seen.

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the bears and seeing the other artists interpretations of the tea party theme.
My show page is all done, with ten bears waiting for the opening :)

Click here to attend the Tea Party

The show starts at 7am Saturday morning NSW  time.

On a sad note, this week we had to have our lovely mastiff X "Crash"  (named after the Crash bandicoot game) put to sleep. He was a totally gorgeous, very happy  big lump of a dog and we all miss him.
