It's Me Again :) ..........

Hi everyone :0)

Sorry, I was away a little longer than I realised.... the time has gone so quickly.
I have been sewing my bears for the Teddies Worldwide Christmas Show and the preview bears from all the participating artists are now available for viewing here
Please vote for your favourite in each section if you can decide between them all :0)

For the show, we had to design a bear to suit the theme of a Christmas song or carol. My entry is called Mistletoe

Mistletoe is made in a gorgeous long, dense polar mohair. I trimmed his face back to the backing and then felted his cheeks etc and then re rooted the same type of mohair back into the felted face and trimmed it to follow the felted shape. Putting the mohair back into the felting really densely makes his cheeks feel like long velvet :0)
He is actually an open mouth design though it is really hard to tell from this photo.
His mistletoe is handmade for Polymer clay over wire and I had a lovely afternoon making it !
I have just about finished all 10 bears for this show and I am just trying to get all the accessories finished to make each bear follow a carol or song.

I can't wait to see all the bears !!

I also got a couple of bears ready for the Bears That Care on line Show. This show raises money for Ovarian Cancer Research and the sale consists of donated bears whose sale money goes to OvCare. You can check out their website by clicking here  As well as the donated bear, each artist will have a bear or two for sale - so it is another chance to see more lovely bears :0)

Also, thank you to everyone that voted for Earl Grey in the URSA Awards. He received a third place :0)

See you next (not such a long) time .......

Rosey, Birthday Goodies and A Shameless Plug...

Hi,

Well, I didn't quite get back next day but here I am now.... better late than never ?

I have been having a week full of bear sewing and a bit of knitting :0)
I have bear bits coming out of my ears at the moment.

As a break from sewing, today I listed Rosey on Bear Pile. Rosey is 15 and a half inches of hand dyed mohair and needle felting and she is available now :)

As promised, I took some photos of my lovely birthday presents. The boar is Steiff and feels like he is stuffed with woodwool.

This is Edward Trunk - he is one of the characters from the Rupert Bear series. He is also from Steiff but is one of their modern series from 2007. This guy has the best elephant face I have seen !

Finally here is my lovely necklace...

While I had the camera out, I took a photo of some of my bear bits - I have been pulling the fur out of seams and fray stopping the stuffing openings so they don't stretch or fray.

Lastly.... it's time for the shameless plug - Please don't forget that the voting for the URSA Awards finishes on the 7th of Sept. If you haven't voted yet, please click on the link in the sidebar and choose your favourite...

See you next time ....

Also, I have just listed Happy on Bear Pile, he is in the "just born" section at the moment.

I really enjoy doing these open mouth smiley faces !!

Be back tomorrow (I hope) as yesterday was my birthday and I received some lovely mohairy goodness from Steiff :)

Blueberry.....

Hi,
I have been super efficient (well.... for me anyway :)  and I have listed Blueberry on Bear Pile.

I am hoping to be allowed to post my lion tomorrow :)
Back soon ...... :)

Sunday, 19 August 2012

Hi,

This weekend, I have been busy with bears :)

I have cut out a double neck jointed bear in a lovely caramel/tipped with brown mohair and another bear in a long blonde/dark blonde tipped mohair and I am just about to cut out a cute little mouse in a long sassy and another in cream viscose.

My rabbit and owl in the white alpaca, that I cut out earlier in the week are all sewn up and ready for stuffing and I have had a photo session with some other bears to get them onto Bear Pile.

I also took some better photos of Jonquil, who has been on Bear Pile already but the more I looked at her original photos the less I liked them. I somehow managed to make the poor girl look like a hunchback lol.

Anyway, here are some of the photos I took, The yellow girl  above is Jonquil ( in the repost section of Bear Pile), the red and white girl is Rosemary (in the just born section on Bear Pile) and BlueBerry and Happy (open mouth bear) will be there later this week  :)

I also have to remember to order some wool stuffing from Gerry's this week. The five kg I bought in April is just about gone !! My poor bears will be flat rather than fat if I don't do it soon lol.

Also, a shameless plug *blushes* .... the URSA Awards are still open for the final round of voting... please see the link in the sidebar... my entry is Earl Grey.  Only pick your favourite in this round and vote for the bear you would like to see win  :)
Thanks to everyone who has already voted, no matter who you voted for... without people voting the awards would not exist !!!

See you next time - I should have a lion to show you then :)
